Nestled deep in the Dorset countryside at Cranborne Chase, Ash Farm is a 120-acre organic red deer farm where you can retreat from the bustle of modern life to one of four luxury, secluded shepherd’s huts. The farm is home to Ali and Adam Russell and their daughter Eden, who together have created this blissful rural idyll. Each named shepherd’s hut has its own gorgeous style – from Murgatroyd’s Scandi cool to Leonora’s rustic look – where you can relax in a wood-fired hot tub admiring stunning views across the fields, or huddle round the firepit at night, stargazing with only the owls for company.

‘It’s important to us that each hut has its own personality,’ says Ali. ‘They all have a set of vintage china, collected with love. We choose vintage and reclaimed furniture whenever we can: Lady Betty has a lovely set of old Lloyd Loom chairs while Murgatroyd has lots of 1950s original Ercol.’

Wander not too far from each hut and you’ll find trails through ancient woodland and around the farm, where you can look out for the herd of friendly deer. At the tiny shepherd’s hut honesty shop you’ll discover tempting offerings like delicious venison steaks or homemade sourdough, while Ali’s pretty cutting garden is open to stroll around and gather flowers.

Relaxation not only comes from enjoying the beautiful surroundings, you can also indulge in a number of rejuvenating treatments at the farm. ‘We have a shepherd’s hut with a beautiful electric sauna and an ice-cold immersion shower, where guests can book a private session,’ says Ali. In addition, a handful of wellness practitioners are based in the courtyard studios – from massage and reflexology to acupuncture – ensuring you can truly unwind and leave the stresses of the city behind.
