Paul Middlemiss, founder of vintage brand Merchant & Found, shares his story

Vintage brand and furniture specialist Merchant & Found is the ‘champion of the forgotten maker’, sourcing beautiful pieces from across Europe and bringing to both homes and commercial spaces – such as restaurants and hotels – just like a big high-street name. They are, if you will, a department store for vintage.

So it’s no surprise that founder Paul Middlemiss – who we visited at his warehouse and office in Hampshire – is the former buying director for Habitat, The Conran Shop and House of Fraser. Here, he shares his story – how he started, his particular views on restoration, filling your home with what you love and how ‘nothing haunts you like the vintage you didn’t buy!’

Merchant & Found is an online store, but look out for their pop-up coming soon – a 4,000-square-foot vintage ‘supermarket’ in the heart of Soho in London. We can’t wait.
